Why choose AJLawton to sell my van to?

Because quite simply we have set out to ensure that the selling of your vehicle is as easy and stress-free as possible. We buy any van for cash within 5 days regardless of:

  • Make
  • Model
  • Condition
  • Damage
  • Age

How will you pay for my Van?

Once we have visited you and inspected your vehicle, payment will be made by immediate Bank Transfer or by Bankers Draft, whichever is preferred by yourself.

Is my payment guaranteed?

Payment is guaranteed by HSBC or Lloyds TSB. As Bank Transfers are immediate, you will be able to telephone your bank to verify the deposit has been made.

What if I miss some dents or scratches?

It is extremely important and in everybody's best interest that you provide us with the most accurate information possible about your van. If you complete the online form correctly this will be assured, but we do reserve the right to revise our offer if absolutely necessary.

What if I am not the registered keeper i.e. the V5 is not in my name?

If you are not the registered keeper of the van, please provide this information on the application form and one of our advisers will be happy to discuss this with you.

How do you know what my van is worth?

Our advisers have many years experience in the auto trade and have various trade tools which help to establish a current market value for your van.

I cannot find my van on the website?

We buy almost all makes and models, however, there are some makes and models we do not have on our database. Whilst we constantly strive to increase the range of vans we will buy, if your van is not on the website we would ask you give us a call or contact us and we will endeavour to make you an offer on as many vans as is possible. Please do not choose the nearest thing to your van in an attempt to obtain a price.

I do not have a V5 registration document?

To allow us to buy your van, we do need your original V5 document presently in your name. If you do not have one you can obtain a new document by filling in form V62 which you can download from the DVLA or pick up from any Post Office. The completed form and appropriate fee should be sent to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AR. A new document will then be issued to you in about 3-4 weeks. Until you have this we cannot proceed with the transaction. You will be required to revalue your van at this time.

What happens if I inaccurately describe my van?

If your online appraisal does not match our collection driver's appraisal, we will reduce the purchase price accordingly. This will either be deducted from the balance that we transfer into your bank account or if you have opted for a cheque on collection we will ask you to pay via a credit or debit card. We will be accurate and fair. A cancellation charge of £150 + VAT, will be payable for all non-collections. If at the point of collection it is discovered that the van is not entirely as described in the assessment form, and an amended price cannot be agreed by both parties, this charge becomes payable immediately.

Will you collect my van for free?

Yes. We will endeavour to collect your van at your convenience free of charge from anywhere within mainland England, Scotland or Wales.

Can I deliver the van to you?

Yes. If you deliver your van to us in Leeds, Halifax, Bradford or Huddersfield we will give you a discount – for more information contact us. However we are happy to collect vans for FREE from around the UK, at a time and date to suit you.

Will you buy an imported van?

Yes we will buy imported van. For all import related questions please contact us.

How and when will I receive my money?

The fastest, easiest and most secure way to pay you is through an electronic transfer from our account to yours. There is no charge for this service and in most cases we make the transfer whilst the collection driver is at your collection address. You will receive an email from HSBC confirming that payment has left our account and has been sent to your bank. If you would prefer to receive a cheque from us you will have the opportunity to tell us when we contact you. Please note that if you do choose to receive a cheque, you must ensure that you have a debit or credit card available on collection just in case you have missed some damage when entering your bike details.

Will you pay cash for my van?

Yes, with prior arrangement cash is available for payment on all vans. Simply fill in our quick and easy online form now and we'll get back to you with a quote within 12 hours with a cash offer based on the information which you provide.

I have outstanding finance on my van – can we still go ahead?

We can settle the outstanding finance as part of the deal. Depending on the finance company, you may have to obtain your settlement figure in writing. We will settle the finance with the finance company and pay you the balancing sum. However if you owe more on your finance than the price of the van we will still buy it, so long as the balance outstanding is paid to either the finance company or ourselves.

How do you calculate the price for my van?

Your offer is calculated by our system when you submit your van details. We have developed a website that will generate our best price for every van, every time. Prices are remarkably accurate and are guaranteed providing that you have been honest when submitting the details.

Is part-ex not a better option for me?

When you part-exchange your van at a dealership, the dealer takes into account the profit they might make on your old van and your new van combined. It's common for dealers to offer you a good part-ex price to convince you to buy a list price new van. The best way to negotiate at any dealership is to have cash in your hand and thus be able to bargain hard. Remember, we can even collect your van from the dealership when you pick up your new van – and you'll have the money in the bank!

What about your competitors?

They exist – but we think we offer the best service and the best price. Consider this – other companies employ salesmen on commission. They pay them reverse commission – commission on how much they save the company on the original offer price! Would you like to deal with a salesman who gets paid more when he beats you down from the original offer you received? We don't operate that way. Our team members get paid the same whether we buy 100 vans or 2. Assuming you have been honest with your description of your van, we will confirm what you have said and we'll pay you what we have offered. There are a couple of key things to the way we operate. We don't attempt to pre-sell your van before making you an offer (unlike some we can't mention!), nor do we take advantage of you if you want to sell your van quickly. The price you get in your email inbox is the price we'll pay.

I’d heard about AJLawton through a friend who had sold a van to them, so I thought I’d fill in the van valuation form to see what kind of price they would pay for mine. Not only was the price fair, they came and picked the vehicle up for free too.
